The Marketing Formula

Marketing planning consists of both strategic and tactical planning. Most small businesses believe that tactical planning is the most important, but this a misconception that is responsible for many marketing failures.

Your Tactical Marketing Plan

The Marketing Formula IS your marketing strategy. Once you have completed each step of The Formula, your next action is to prepare your tactical plan, which is your plan for implementation. Components of a tactical plan include a description of each target market and a list of each promotional action you will take along with target dates and assignments of responsibilities to capture each target market. You will also need to include a description of each promotional piece you plan to create, your frequency of communication and how you will communicate your messages. This includes whatever type of media you will select, such as print media, radio, television, direct mail, websites, blogs, social media, teleconferences, seminars and publicity. Should you also decide to create a sales force, this should be included, as well.

Other aspects of the plan you must consider include frequency and method of follow up of prospects, potential joint venture opportunities, endorcement campaigns and referral programs. Here is a sample tactical plan you can download.
